Hannah applies one key principal to her teaching: learning the piano should never be boring.

Hannah has experience successfully guiding students through classical ABRSM exams; teaching jazz theory and practice; teaching adult beginners and pre-school aged children. She hosts lessons at her home studio in Southeast London (SE23), which has a beautiful Yamaha upright piano and a Nord electric piano.

With adults, Hannah tailors lessons to the student's goals. Whether you just want to play for relaxation; progress through classical grades or develop the skills to join in at a jazz jam, Hannah will be delighted to support you. She's very happy to create versions of any song for students to learn - it's much more fun than just sticking to a method book. Hannah keep lessons interesting and challenging with a variety of pieces and exercises to develop different aspects of musicianship, and enjoys helping students build consistent practice habits that get them the results they're looking for.

With young students, Hannah takes a mixed approach. Her aim is to inspire students to fall in love with playing and music in general, and build solid technical skills they can feel proud of. She supports students to develop well-rounded musicianship through discovering the rewards of consistent work, and the fun of playing creatively. A typical lesson might include some activities to strengthen the student's sense of rhythm and pitch; building reading skills and playing technique through working on a piece, and using songwriting and improvisation prompts to spark creativity, and encourage confidence in their own ideas and musicality.

Hannah currently has daytime and evening availability on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Don't hesitate to get in touch with any enquiries!
